Clean Getaway (a la DURDEN)

narva9

I had written this song about a year ago as a birthday present for a friend who was turning 40 and feeling a bit blue. It’s always been performed accoustic but it was meant to be rock. So imagine my glee when out of the blue couple I run into DURDENS rockin’ little instrumental piece and by divine intervention it fits like a glove. YA GOTTA LOVE MIXTER!!!

For me this song is about taking chance, putting it all on the line, and living life to its fullest. In my head I’ve always heard Rod Stewart singing it ….unfortunately he was unavailble on short notice :-(.

PS - please let me know if you want the raw vocals

Clean Getaway

Chorus
So fragile we are, so lost in our thoughts
It’s a place where dreams no longer hold sway
Time to take no prisoners, time for a midnight run
It’s all or nothing baby.
It’s time for a clean getaway

I said I would call but I’ve been feeling a little low
Not sure if its real or a case of deja vu
But I think I saw my life just passing me by
She waived at me as she took off with someone new

Chorus

So I sat here all day letting go of might have beens
Boxing hope forever, putting futures away
It seems to me that I’ve been wandering for a while
Lost and helpless in this reality

Chorus

So I think my friend it’s time to hit the road
Stay here any longer and there’d be no place to go
Dreams are for the taking
Life for the makeing
So let’s break free of this world and slip away

Chorus
